Payyavoor Community Development Project (PCDP)

Payyavoor Community Development Project (P.C.D.P), a leading non-government organization, is an initiative of Caritas Secular Institute, a congregation of sisters under the Episcopal jurisdiction of Arch Diocese of Kottayam. Established in 1986, the organization has been registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860. Over the years P.C.D.P has been engaged in nation building process through the sustainable development and uplift of the marginalized people including women, children, elders, farmers, poor, tribal and the underprivileged irrespective of their cast, creed and religion.

Vision

The vision of the society is the prevalence of just and participatory social order where human dignity reigns supreme and the natural resources remain intact, providing for the livelihood of all with sense of equity, sustaining natural “life cycle”. The philosophy behind is “every man is a visible image of invisible God and a brother of Christ. A Christian finds in every man God himself and God’s absolute demand for justice and love”.

Mission

Towards the stated vision, P.C.D.P. stands committed for the mobilization of the deprived people and communities for their self reliant development through empowerment in education, health, social affairs etc. and capacity building for improved livelihood conditions with sustainability, i.e. “movement of people from less human condition to more human condition”.

Our Founder

Payyavoor Community Development Project (PCDP) was founded by Sr. Annamma Thonnamkuzhiyil a registered nurse who got trained in Germany. She returned to India after her education in Nursing with revived enthusiasm to undertake and promote activities for Rural Development with special focus on women development and established the organization. The organization entered into the social service field with community health as an entry point activity in the year of 1972 and then widened its scope of humanitarian services. The organization formally got registered in the year 1986 vide Registration Number S-459/86. Sr. Annamma Thonnamkuzhiyil is the current president of the organization.
